Its Been Awhile

I've been off the blogging. Sorry guys, I just haven't had much to say.

Today, I got a call from my publisher. They wanted to know if I would be intersted in going to Calif. in June to pitch my book to 5 movie producers.

I was honored that they asked me but I turned it down. We just don't have the time or money for me to take a trip like that right now.

Plus, I have my own inner demons. I get scared, I don't mind having my name on a book but I don't want to put my face out there.

All my life I have been told that I would not amount to anything. I was told at a very young age not to even think about college, that I would never go and that even going to school would be a waste of time for me.

I acted, modeled and sang in groups but I never had the desire to make it big. I always had the fear that something bad would happen to me if I had ambition. Silly, I know. But that's how I feel and I can't seem to shake it, at least for now. I like being creative and  doing a book was a dream of mine and I'm glad I did it.

Who knows maybe in time I'll pitch my book to some producers healing a part of a scared little girl. :)

The Big Year

We saw the movie "The Big Year" starring Jack Black, Steve Martin and Owen Wilson.

What a GREAT movie, it is simply delightful. A wonderful movie for your movie nite.

It made me want to photograph all the birds that come into our yard. But then, I would have to look up what they were. Which wouldn't be hard because my in-laws gave us a wonderful book about different species of birds (with photos of course).

Anyway, "The Big Year" is a great movie if you are looking to watch one :)

Comfy Jeans

Have you seen the ads for the jeans that are like sweatpants? Well, I have and I had to go to Amazon.com to see about them.

Holy smokes, they want $50-60 for them. But I found something just like them for half the price. They are called comfy jeans and they are just that.

I wore them out in public twice and they looked wonderful. Of course here in Colorado I don't wear them when it snows. But, none the less I have really enjoyed them. I wear them around the house, giving myself a break from my sweatpants.

Hope everyone is having a great day

A Little Stressed today

I'm a little stressed today. I was writing checks to pay bills and noticed that I hadn't recieved my statement from one of our credit card companies. So, I called. Yes they had sent the statement and I was 2 days overdue. They were very nice and I was able to take care of it.

But, I am not happy with the post office. This is the second thing that I have not recieved. The first was my 'Meaningful Beauty' package. And yes I had to go thru, calling, getting another package sent, etc etc.

Both these things have happened when we did not have our regular mailman. Both these things just had my name on them. And I am NOT a happy camper.

Then, of course, last night the dishwasher died. Also, one of our dogs got sick, we always do the 24 hour thing. If one of the dogs are ill, we wait 24 hrs then take them to the vet. Thankfully, our little boy got up today, did his business and ate. He is feeling much better.

So, my stress level is high and I want to scream. So, I am screaming here :)

Hope your day is going better then mine.

School In The Woods

There is a program here in Colorado Springs called 'School In The Woods'.  It started in 1999, until this year this program only took 52 4th graders, now it  has expanded to 78 4th graders.

The school is in Black Forest (this is an area in Colorado Springs and has been called this longer then I've been alive because of all the trees), anyway, the school has 640 acres that is used as a living classroom.

It's only for 4th graders and they learn everything about the environment. They check wind speed and temperature, they study insects and plant cycles.

It was designed to increase students knowledge of natural science. I really wish they would have had that when I was younger, it would have been so interesting.

If you want to read more about it, the article is by Kristina Iodice, 'Window To The Outdoors Will Push Open Wider', www.gazette.com
